Same day
Walk out with cash if you complete in person before close.
Funding — Online
Next business day
ACH deposits typically post the next business day; cutoffs apply.
Same-Day vs Next-Business-Day Funding
Funding speed depends on where and when you complete the loan. Here’s the actual cutoff schedule and what each channel can deliver.
In-Store Same-Day Cash
Walk into any Check City branch with your government-issued ID, proof of income (pay stub or bank statement), and a voided personal check. If you sign before close of business, you walk out with physical cash the same day. This is the fastest funding channel and the one most borrowers in served states actually use for emergency expenses.
Branch hours vary by location, but most stores in Utah, Nevada, and Idaho operate 10am-7pm weekdays and Saturday mornings. Sunday hours are limited or unavailable in most locations.
Online — Next Business Day ACH
Apply through the secure online form and approved loans typically fund via ACH direct deposit the next business day. If you sign before the daily ACH cutoff (approximately 1pm Eastern, varies by bank), some loans can settle same-day, but most settle the following business morning. Weekend applications fund the next business day Monday.
Online funding never delivers physical cash — it goes directly into the verified checking account you provided at application. The account must be in your own name, not a joint account where you’re only an authorized user.

Having these items within reach keeps the 2-minute application actually 2 minutes. Missing documents are the #1 cause of application delays.

Common Reasons Applications Get Delayed or Denied
Most denials and delays come from fixable issues. Here are the patterns we’ve seen most often, ranked by frequency.
1. Bank account too new (less than 30-60 days old)
Lenders verify account stability before depositing. If your checking account is newer than 30-60 days, you may be asked for a secondary account or to apply in-store with a voided check instead.
2. Recent overdrafts or returned items in your bank history
Multiple overdrafts in the last 60 days flag affordability risk. This doesn’t auto-deny but may reduce maximum approved amount or extend underwriting.
3. Income below state minimum ($800-$1,200/month varies by state)
State regulations set minimum income for loan eligibility. Check City’s online application will tell you upfront if your income is below your state’s minimum.
4. Active payday loan with another lender
Several states limit simultaneous payday loans. Lenders check a state database (typically Veritec) before approving. Pay off your existing payday loan first, or apply for installment instead of payday.
5. Identity verification mismatch
Address on your ID doesn’t match the address you provided. Update your ID first if you’ve moved, or use the address that appears on your ID and recent utility bill.
